The Norwegian Higher Education Programme (NHEP) Supplementary Grant grant is available in addition to the ordinary tuition grant and loan (skolepengestøtte), maximum NOK 113 940, and other financial aid from the State Educational Loan Fund for studies abroad. For the academic year 2010-2011 the maximum NHEP supplementary grant amounts to NOK 61 600.
Institutions and programmes in the NHEP supplementary grant scheme
Only selected educational institutions are included in the scheme. On the main list are institutions in which all Bachelor and graduate programmes are included. In addition, there is an extended list in which only selected degrees or programmes are included. For the Bachelor degree in the USA, financial aid is available from the first year (freshman year) if the program of study is included in the NHEP grant scheme.
Please note that students attending institutions and/or programmes that are included in the NHEP supplementary grant scheme as a part of a Bachelor or Master degree from Norway or other countries (study abroad programmes), also are eligible for funding through the NHEP supplementary grant scheme.
Who is eligible?
Students who meet the general requirements for financial support for degree studies and/or study abroad programmes and who are admitted to the universities on the main or extended list, are eligible for the NHEP supplementary grant. The NHEP supplementary grant is available for the normal length of time for the specific degree programme in question.
Regulations
The regulations for the NHEP supplementary grant scheme are given by the Ministry of Education and Research and are revised every year. The number of institutions on the NHEP supplementary grant list, as well the amount of the grant itself, is therefore subject to change.
