How to apply

Sist oppdatert: 11.01.2011

Go to the online application form, remember that you have to log in with MinID codes.

Your place of education will confirm that you have been accepted for the quota programme when your application is sent to Lånekassen.

Guidance for quota students

Read about how you should use MinID when you apply for support from Lånekassen, click here. The first time you apply for support, you must send in the following documentation either electronically as an attachment to your internet application or by post:

  • approval of residence permit from the UDI (Directorate of Immigration). If the educational programme does not appear in the letter of approval from the UDI, you must attach the acceptance letter from the academic institution with information on how long the course of education lasts.
  • The Q Form, which you obtain from the academic institution.

For new quota students

A starting grant equivalent to two months support is paid to new quota students when they arrive at the academic institution or at the start of the semester. This scheme applies in the first semester for all new quota students.

Clarifications

Master students – no right to support in the summer months

If you are studying for a master degree you will not normally be entitled to support during the summer months. You can receive support for an extended study year if field work is carried out in the summer. You will find more information under here. As a master degree student you can also receive support in summer if you are delayed in the last semester of education and need to use the summer to complete your degree.

PhD – concluding date

If you are studying at doctorate level, you are entitled to support until your thesis is delivered. When Lånekassen asks for confirmation of the concluding date, it is the date of handing in the thesis we want, not the date of your disputation.

Part studies

Support for part studies in a third country (a country other than Norway or your homeland) is given according to the same rules as for other students.
