Application for deletion of interest

In your application you will be applying for the deletion of interest that has already been added to your debt. You cannot apply to avoid having interest added in the future.

If you are applying because you are unemployed, in education or receiving work assessment allowance, you do not need to submit any documents.

You will not receive a final answer about whether or not your interest will be deleted until we have received information about your income for the calendar year for which you are applying for interest deletion. We normally receive this information during the summer of the following year. So you will not receive a final answer to an application that applies to 2023 until the summer of 2024.

Therefore, once your application has been processed, you will receive a preliminary decision in which we assess whether or not your circumstances entitle you to the deletion of interest. You will receive this decision before we check your income.
