Travel

Sist oppdatert: 24.05.2017
You may receive travel support for your initial trip to Norway, one annual trip home, in relation to field work, and for your final travel home.

How to apply

In order to apply for travel support, you must contact your academic institution to obtain a Q-form, which you must complete. The academic institution must also confirm the information in a specific field of the form.

When applying for travel support in relation to field work in your home country, you also must enclose confirmation from your supervisor or other person with academic responsibility stating that the field work is an approved and necessary part of the education in Norway. The field work period must be stated (start date and end-date of the actual field work).

Terms and conditions regarding travel support

Annual travel home

You may receive support for one visit home annually if your education in Norway has lasted for at least one year. If your education starts in the spring semester, you may receive support for a visit home when your studies have lasted for one semester or more.

Support for annual travel home can be given for any time of the year you choose to travel, provided the academic institution approves the absence. It is a condition that you have not been on field work during the previous semester and will not travel on field work during the subsequent semester.

Field work in home country

If field work in your home country is included in the education, you may receive support for round trip travel. Support will be given for an extended study year if the field work is carried out during the summer, but only for the actual period of the field work.

In order for travel to your home country to be approved as field work, it is a requirement that you actually collect source material in your home country. You must therefore attach a confirmation from your supervisor or other person with academic responsibility.

Final travel home

You may receive support for your final travel home after concluding your education in Norway.
